2018 La Fleur Garderose Saint Emillion Grand Cru
A young winery that began in 2014 under the leadership of the famous Belregard Figeac family. Here the Pueyo family works 7 hectares of vineyards distributed among several parcels around Libourne. The average age of their vines is about 45 years. The 2016 is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet sourced from their best parcels
In great contrast to the Haut Segottes, this baby is wide open and has a unique scent that I rarely come across. The scent of purple jolly ranchers or nerds candy mixed with dirty, fat, mushroom and plums; earth galore where you feel like your on your hands and knees digging for gold with your hands in the dirt of Saint Emillion. Really persistent flavors. Ripe and crunchy on the palate, with big ravaging, ditty plums and amn intense spice box, open and ready to ride. This is my style of Merlot and the greatest profile one can hope for.
