NY Times' favorite Pet'Nat is BACK

J Brix New California Wines

As most know, one of our specializations are pet nat sparkling wines. So it was much to our surprise that last year when Eric Asimov decided to write an article on pet nats, he featured as #1 one of our favorite producers in the store: J. Brix

San Diego based couple, Jody Brix and Emily Towe, are really coming into their own in the "new" natural California wine scene. Contemporaries of Michael Cruz, Hardy Wallace, and Tegan Passalacqua. Jody began chasing his vinous dreams in 2012. Today, we are featuring for summer two of their wines that will quench your thirst in these hot, humid summer days. See below for the latest pet nat release but a special limited skin contact Pinot-Gris:

2018 J Brix Cobolorum Santa Barbara County Kick on Ranch
Sale Price: $28.99
NYT's favorite Pet Nat is BACK - J Brix Cobolorum Santa Barbara County Kick on Ranch. Winemaker's Jody and Emily think this is the best vintage ever of the wine, and we agree. This pét-nat is bottle-conditioned, unfined, unfiltered and not disgorged, so the naturally occurring sediment remains at the bottom of the bottle and will cause the wine to be cloudy, once opened. No added sulfur.
Eric Asimov stated that "Our favorite was from California, the 2016 Cobolorum from J Brix, made entirely from riesling grown in Santa Barbara County. It was full of flavor and absolutely delicious." The bottle, affectionally known as "The Goblin," comes with opening instructions, as not to lose a drop when opening this lively pet-nat.

2018 J Brix Nomine Amoris Pinot Gris Skin-Fermented Santa Maria Valley
Sale Price: $26.99
Even more exciting, the J Brix Nomine Amoris Pinot Gris Skin-Fermented Santa Maria Valley, a fantastic Orange Wine is finally available. Hand-picked at night, vineyard-sorted, destemmed, skin-fermented for native primary fermentation (16 days), pressed to neutral French oak barrels after primary fermentation. This spent 4 months in barrel before bottling; it also went through full malolactic. It was bottled unfined, unfiltered, and was not cold stabilized. Fresh and zesty with the subtle spice, this is a fantastic bridge for those curious about Orange Wines.

Other Wines Available from J Brix!

2016 J Brix Audire Pinot Noir
Price: $29.99

From Santa Barbara County vs San Diego. Ultra melodic, old school Pinot with silky, kick ass fruit that is melodic and introspective.

2016 J Brix Hornswoggle Stay in Bed Red
Price: $25.99

This juicy little number's composed of Carignan and Syrah, and don't the bush and the bramble tangle nicely together? It's pretty darn luscious, y'all. Chill lightly, pair with barbecue or pizza or burgers and/or staying in bed, and just say yes.

2016 J Brix Rougarou Carignan
Price: $26.99

San Diego is more than Sea World. They also make wine. Great wine. Here we have one of the coolest producers to come out making old world style Carignane. Fat, lush and spicy with rich textural mouth coatings of flavor.
