Amazing Value on Natural Wine from Cotes du Rhone
2016 Le Cri de l'Araignee
When you think of Natural Wine from France, your mind may immediately go to the Loire Valley and Cabernet Franc. Now, take a trip Southeast to the happening Natural Wine movement exploding in the Cotes du Rhone. New expressions of the grapes you love without the use of fining, filtering, and acidification.
This wine is from Domaine le Cri de l'Araignee, translated to The Cry of the Spider. Could that mean the cry of nature that wants to be heard but we do not hear? Maybe! This wine responds to that cry and delivers a deep ruby natural wine. It is balanced, with pleasant levels of acid and tannin that almost masks the 14% level of alcohol. Bright red cherry, plum, raspberry, licorice and some vegetal and eucalyptus notes.
Trombetta cultivates 6 hectares of vines inlcuding the two grapes present in this wine - Mourvedre and Grenache. Together, he makes natural, free and living wine that is delicious, yet unusual. Awesome value from the Cotes du Rhone that deserves to be drunk all summer long.
Wines will be available on Monday, 7/1.
