2015 Domaine Manarine Les Terres Saintes Cotes du Rhone
For this week, we are bringing back an oldie that hasn't made the newsletter in a while. One of the first Cotes du Rhones I ever had and proud to be able to bring back at a substantial discount. Domaine Manarine makes various wines, but theLes Terres Saintes is their top red. A blend of mostly Grenache with a bit of Syrah from average aged 55 year old vines.
As I describe in the video (see below and ignore my terribly shaven beard. I just bought a new razor) this is one of the more interesting examples of CDR that you will try. A nose filled with incredible layers of flavors: herbs de provence, tar, leather, licorice, tobacco, plums and cherries. With 14.5% ABV, you would expect the mouth to be hot and tannic but there is well integrated acid that is lively and plucky. Still gaping mouthfuls of fruit with loads of powerful and a deep finish. Once you try this and see the price you made for this, you too will want to make a bad youtube video.
