2013 Barolo from Oddero plus Library Vintages
2013 Oddero Barolo Plus Older Vintages
"Fans of the traditional style of Barolo should take note."
-- Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator
"One of the oldest established Barolo houses and the most important landowner of Barolo’s greatest crus."
-- The Piedmont Guy
Every time I listen to the band King Crimson, I wonder out loud, why aren't these guys more popular? Same can be said for the movie Idiocracy, the reporter Glenn Greenwald and the arm wrestler Devon Larratt: why are they not more popular?
The same can be said about this week's producer: Poderi Oddero. I am really at a loss as to how this Barolo is not sought after like Hamilton tickets. It has everything: perfect traditional flavors, not crazy prices and ageability to last through the zombie apocalypse. Crazy stuff.
I have been giving warnings like this years about various producers from Domaine Fourrier, Bernard Levet and Fratelli Brovia. I was told I was crazy, ludicrous for speaking in such marvelous accolades. But the years have proven me right and they will with the featured wine today.
Below are the main Barolo and crus within the esteemed 2013 vintage. We have also been offered some back vintages that I have listed below.
- All wines will be arriving mid April!
- 10% off 6, 15% off 12. For larger sizes, 10% off 3, 15% off 6.

The 2013 Villero Barolo is another simply fantastic showing from Oddero in the vintage. Beautiful fresh aromas of red fruits, florals, eucalyptus, minerals and leather all burst from the glass. Balanced, focused and precise, this continues to impress with its gorgeous, refined silky texture, which leads into a burst of red fruits and spices on the finish. Overall, this is a simply wonderful Barolo that should evolve gracefully over the next decade and beyond. (Best 2018-2030) - August, 2017 (JD)

The 2013 Rocche di Castiglione is an utterly fascinating Barolo from Oddero in this vintage. Elegant and refined, this gorgeous Barolo opens to pretty aromatics of strawberries and red cherries followed by mint, leather and lovely floral undertones all taking shape. Precise and well defined, this continues to impress on the palate as it displays remarkable overall depth, balance and finesse. The purity is striking, as it delivers beautiful red fruits through the juicy, ultra-long finish. An incredible showing and certainly one of the most compelling wines from the vintage. What a nose here. Aromas of dried fruits, porcini mushroom and flowers. Full body, with round and velvety tannins and a chewy finish. A little mouth-puckering from the tannins now but there's a beauty and complexity to this wine
2008 Oddero Barolo Brunate

Wine Spectator 93 Points:
A lean, athletic red, with cherry, menthol, tobacco and tar flavors stretched tautly across a firm frame. Very compact on the finish, the flavors releasing only after about 30 seconds. Be patient for this traditional style. Best from 2017 through 2035
