2016 Domaine Belle Crozes-Hermitage Les Pierrelles @ Exceptional Discount

When I'm not waxing poetic about Burgundy, I'm drinking Rhone. And if it's Monday-Wednesday night, I'm drinking Crozes Hermitage. One of the most underrated wines in the world, considering it's spot on this planet and the real estate nearby that it encompasses.  And if I'm drinking Crozes, I'm thinking about this one today: 2016 Domaine Belle Crozes-Hermitage Les Pierrelles.  

A good Crozes should bite you like a snake that crawled out of a shoe polish factory. There should be edge, grit, substance and wholesome fruitiness. A Crozes goes where few have gone. It should age and shed some skin, meander with lamb or be fun on it's own in this cool Autumn time of year.  

JD 93 Points: The 2016 Crozes Hermitage Les Pierrelles comes from sandy, pebbly soils and spent 14 months in 2- to 5-year-old barrels. Saturated purple/ruby-colored, with beautiful notes of blackberries, pepper, ground herbs, and hints of minerality, it hits the palate with a rounded, supple, elegant texture that carries terrific depth and richness. It's a beautiful Crozes that will keep for 7-8 years, probably longer.
