2 Syrahs from the Motherland!

As you could probably guess from the last email, I am really into Syrah and want you to be as well. But first, let's get this great deal out of the way. Even though it is so inappropriate and will completely break the flow, it needs to be stated:

2009 and 2010 Amapola Creek Cabernet Sauvignon: Was $60

On-Sale: $33 -- 10% off a case!
Email, or call for your order!

Okay, back to Syrah. Stay focused...
This week is all about game. Not "he got game" but animal game. The scent of the hunt. The lure of the chase. Bloody, cooked, grimy, rustic.
This is what Syrah is all about. Here, in the French motherland, is where it shows it's greatest sense of primordiality.

In it's first form, we have Cotes du Rhone. Normally, Syrah plays the bench warmer to the more sturdy Grenache. But, on occasion, Syrah can be the majority grape and when it does, can be a fabulous introduction to these exact type of scents we have been trying to figure out.

2012 Domaine Andezon Cotes du Rhone: $15.99

90% Syrah and 10% Grenache aged in French oak. This is more of an old school style (for lack of a better term) that reflects the larger, more intense style of the northern Rhone with a lot of succulent, juicy fruit and oodles of bacon and olives.

Now, let's get serious and see how far we can push these animalistic urges Syrah can induce:

2007 Domaine Lionnet Cornas "Terre Brulee:" $44.99
Barely opening up but it's there! The nose has lean structural essence with smokey gravel and tar. Fruit is non-existent on the nose, but in the mouth, everything comes together with incredible balance and finesse. Long finish with incredible game notes that have extreme elegance for their young age.

10% off a mixed case of the above Syrahs. Order on-line, by phone or email.

Stay safe, warm and cuddly,
Jeremy
